Seon Poems: Selected Works by na

Most of the poems are written in stanzas of 4 or 6 lines and form collections of about 100 individual monks. Intangible elements, such as moonlight, the sound of the wind, water cascading and the fragrance of flowers, pervade the poems, and serve as metaphors for the essential truths of the Buddha’s teaching. The whiteness of clouds, snow, pear blossom and the writers’ own hair portray impermanence and the brevity of human existence.
